The Federal Office of Culture supports film-productions as much as the access to the culture of film and assists in ensuring the multiplicity of provision in Switzerland. The film industry in multilingual Switzerland is way to small to exist by itself compared to the neighboring countries such as France and Germany. The financial support of the Federal Office to the productions and distribution of films enhance and ensure the quality and variety of films offered in all national regions. The Federal Office of Culture also supports this range by endorsing national film festivals. Those guarantee an access to the national and international film culture outside of cinemas.

The selective film funding should support projects that foster the diverse range of Swiss films and co-productions. In practice, these are scripts and productions as well as the development of documentaries and animations.

The applications that are handed in at the Federal Office of Culture will be assessed by an expert commission. The applications have to be handed in in time and before production begins.
